We are immensely proud to share that in May, Maddisons Residential will be turning 10 years old! And what a journey it has been… We have found ourselves reflecting on the last decade and thought we would share each year in review since Deborah Richards, our Managing Partner, founded the business. Read on to see our we have been up to - the challenges, highlights and successes since we began our journey in 2013!

2013 – Where it all began

The start of Maddisons Residential! After establishing the business in May 2013, Deborah sold her first property from her kitchen table and went on to sell four more later in the year. She also received her first commission check, which felt like a million pounds to her!

2014 – Moving away from the kitchen table!

As the business started picking up, Deborah moved into the garden office in her own property and won her first award at the annual UK Property Awards, taking home Gold in the ‘Highly Commended Kent Estate Agent’ category.

2015 – Joined the community of businesses on The Pantiles

Maddisons moved to the Lower Pantiles in Royal Victoria House and Deborah won her next major award at Estate Agent of the Year. She took home ‘Best Single Office in the South East,’ an award she was incredibly proud of.

Deborah took on her first member of staff, Fiona Watkins, and not long after Milly Stedman joined, who is still with us today!

2016 – A welcome surprise and the Brexit vote!

At The Times of Tunbridge Wells awards ceremony, Deborah was named "Entrepreneur of the Year," and soon after, at the age of 44, she gave birth to her late surprise daughter, Esme! After a significant increase in business, the Brexit vote took place and business was challenging …

2017 – The team grew and records were hit

Maddisons moved to the main colonnade on The Pantiles – our current premises – which we will never leave! James Richards, Deborah’s husband, joined the business to head up lettings and Jane Lewis joined, who is still with us today as one of our Sales Progression Managers.

Business was now in full swing and Maddisons  broke the £3m mark by selling Allen’s House in Plaxtol.

2018 – Offering our clients more services

We fully launched our Lettings and Land and New Homes side of the business. Deborah became an Ambassador for Ellenor, a fabulous local charity that provides in hospice and in home care to terminally ill children and adults in Kent.

2019 – Gold winner in Best Estate Agency Guide

Maddisons received Gold in the Best Estate Agency Guide for sales and we welcomed two more members to the team, Louize Brewer and Emma Bennett, who are both still with us today. We also launched our new website to support the growth of the business for users.

2020 – Covid-19 pandemic hit!

To support the community during the pandemic we distributed hygiene keys, produced a ‘Guide to Lockdown Living’ and gave care packages to the NHS. We also took this time to redesign and improve our business model, adapting our processes to adhere to the new Covid-19 guidelines.

Maddisons were Gold winners again in the Best Estate Agency Guide for sales, ands Vicky Monaghan and Sinead McCurry joined the business as Client Partners.

2021 – Our best year yet with record sales

For the first time ever, Maddisons became the most dominant agent in Tunbridge Wells for 3 bedroom plus properties and we hit our record number of sales, agreeing137 sales!  We were also voted Gold winner again in the Best Estate Agency Guide for sales.

2022 - Over 100 5-Star Google reviews

We achieved over 100 5 star Google Reviews (we don’t have a single review below 5 stars!) and Karen Galpin joined as our new Sales Director.

 

Maddisons was voted a Double Gold winner in the Best Estate Agency Guide for both sales and lettings, an achievement gained by less than 5% of estate agents UK wide. Plus, Deborah took home The Growth Award at the Women in Business 2022 awards and won Silver for the Best Business of Five Years.

2023 – we turn 10!

After a jam packed 10 years and a chaotic 2022, we are looking forward to celebrating our special milestone with the team, our business colleagues and family later this month at The Beacon for our 10 year anniversary party!
