As residents of Tunbridge Wells, we are blessed with access to some of the most picturesque parks, right in or near our town centre. Dunorlan Park, often considered the crown jewel of our local green spaces, is a destination that deserves every bit of its praise.

The Rich History of Dunorlan Park

Originally a sprawling private garden belonging to Henry Reed—a fortunate tradesman who found wealth in Tasmania—Dunorlan Park spans 78 acres and features a six-acre pond. Imagine, Reed, a father to 16 children, built an Italian-inspired mansion here and employed the famed Victorian gardener, Robert Marnock, to design the landscape.

The park's ownership transitioned to the Collins family until the Second World War, when it was requisitioned by the Army. Sadly, the original house was lost to fire and subsequently demolished. Today, the park is maintained by The Friends of Dunorlan Park, a charity dedicated to preserving its beauty and biodiversity.

Getting There

The primary entrance is on Pembury Road, directly opposite Sandrock Road, where a small car park is available—parking fees have recently come to play however! Additional parking can be found on Hall’s Hole Road or Bayhall Road, with easy access to the park's gentle and level pathways.
