At Maddisons Residential, we love our Tunbridge Wells community and feel passionately about championing as many local events as we can. This year we are sponsoring Local and Live – the four-day music festival held in Calverley Grounds, across the August bank holiday weekend! We are delighted to be supporting such a brilliant event which encourages local musicians to showcase their talent for everyone to enjoy (for free!)  A great day out can be had spent with family and friends, so don’t forget to put the date in your diary and pack a picnic for the day. 

The fun continues into the evening at The Forum, who are currently celebrating their 30 years anniversary, where entry is free but donations are welcome.

How Local and Live began…

This year Local and Live is running from 25 to the 28 August, and the history of the event is quite inspiring. Having promoted a number of successful acoustic shows at the Grey Lady, Paul Dunton and Ollie Nichols planned a one-off event of live performances in 2006 to help celebrate to town’s 400-year celebrations. With the event being such a success, Local and Live at the bandstand on The Pantiles rapidly became a beloved fixture in the Tunbridge Wells calendar.

A few years on and the event progressed to a second stage at the other end of the Pantiles. The event then became so popular that it had to move to a new location in 2014 - Calverley Grounds!

In 2019, Local and Live officially became a charity with a remit to support, encourage and nurture local music and culture.
